I know you have mastered the version of your life story you tell friends and strangers every chance you get. You tell it so convincingly and passionately that people have come to believe that you really are that person. You too are so invested in its drama that you have surrendered the rest of your life to those influences. You won’t commit because someone cheated on you and dumped you, you work yourself to the bone because your senga said that you would die poor so you are determined to get rich or die trying. I often feel very frustrated when I see people being influenced by the very things they are trying to run away from.
You are not your prejudices and attitudes. You are not the façade you put on for the world so remove the mask, drop the act and get to know the person you have carefully hidden beneath those layers and layers of conditioning. Who do you think you are? What do you think of yourself? What do you say about yourself deep in the night when the world is just you and your conscience?
There is a fair chance that you might not know who you are. There is also a possibility that because you cannot stand the brilliance of your own light you hate the glimpses of your true self. You call yourself all sorts of ugly names. You think you are a poser, a worthless dreamer who thinks they can have whatever their heart desires.
“You are what you think,” is a true maxim, both for better and worse. For better, when we understand the nature of reality, and harness our thoughts to create and participate consciously in what is happening to us. For worse, when we remain unaware of the larger picture and fumble from experience to experience wondering why unfortunate experiences happen to us.
Since everything in the universe is made up of energy, your thoughts are also more than just thoughts; they are also vibrating energy. Every thought you think is a form of vibrating energy. Your fears are vibrating energy. Your desires are vibrating energy. Your confidence is vibrating energy.
What we think of ourselves matters. What we think of others matters. What thoughts we indulge in, either consciously or unconsciously, are having an incredible effect upon us. We become the energy that vibrates within us. We are what we think. We are what we vibrate. We are the energy of our thoughts.
As Maya Angelou says when you know better you do better. If you want to feel better about yourself and life start thinking better thoughts. Remember the creator of the universe breathed his life force in you; this makes you the most powerful being on earth. So go ahead tell yourself that you are powerful. You are brilliant. You are good. You are the light of the world.
It doesn’t matter what you think of yourself or whatever names you call yourself, from today decide that who you are is truly divine. Tell yourself that there is no light more brilliant than the light that you are and then let that light shine for the world to see.
