Did you know that the average adult is exposed to 168 hazardous chemicals each day? Chemicals such as phthalates, mineral oils, sodium lauryl sulphate, propylene glycol, and parabens, are all commonly used in cosmetics and body care products, and are known carcinogens or toxins that affect the immune, reproductive, and endocrine systems.
Your skin absorbs things easily. Anything that is applied to the skin – such as moisturizers, lipsticks, deodorants, and other cosmetics are absorbed into the body and into the blood stream just as if you’d eaten it.
Here in Uganda, our only affordable skincare products tend to be international brands, because we feel like that’s what’s healthiest or best for us; and the reality is they aren’t. While some labels might have “organic” and “natural” attached to their products they usually contain a very small amount of organic herbs in a base of petrochemicals, toxins, and harsh preservatives.
This is the fundamental reason as to why Amagara Skincare was formed. Amagara Skincare is Uganda’s first indigenous natural skincare line producing a range of products from hand and body lotions, to shower gels and hand washes.
Our skin is the largest organ of the body, and not only does it need to be nourished, but also it needs to be protected. Since your skin is your body’s shield, it’s important to be aware of what exactly you are using.
Contrary to popular belief, organic products just work better because they are made with ingredients that don’t disrupt your body’s natural state. Since what you put on your skin will end up in your body, treat your body well and you will feel and look your best.
Using natural ingredients for skincare can help treat hyperpigmentation, inflammation, and it can help with skin damage caused by the sun’s rays over our lifetimes.
At Amagara Skincare, we select our flavours carefully to administer particular benefits. Be it cucumber for those with dry skin, to Papaya for it’s anti-ageing properties, we make sure that our collection of products feeds the skin what it needs to balance and nourish on a cellular level.
Here is why you should stay clear of none organic products
Infertility is rising in women under the age of 25. A major study found that pregnant women and women of child-bearing age are at greater risk for infertility and reproductive problems as result of exposure to certain common chemical ingredients.
Cancer, autism, and birth defect rates are really high and growing. Numerous reports have proven that it’s due to the huge number of toxins that we’re exposed to on a daily basis from cosmetic and personal care products.
Most chemicals have not undergone any safety testing. Of the more than 10,000 chemical ingredients in cosmetic and personal care products less than 10% have actually been tested. And of those that have been tested virtually none have been banned.
Unborn babies have been found to carry hundreds of chemicals. Laboratory tests have detected as many as 232 chemicals in newborns which were tested through an umbilical cord blood study. This report has produced hard evidence that children are being exposed, beginning in the womb, to complex mixtures of dangerous substances that may have lifelong consequences.
Exposure to chemicals is cumulative and “adds up” over time exponentially with exposures to other toxics in food we eat, water we drink, and the air we breathe. At Amagara Skincare, we realise that beauty an absolutely vital part of your health and well-being. That’s why our high-performance skincare collection cleanses, treats, moisturizes while protecting your over all health.
